Creative thinking

Gamos has pioneered the role of creative thinking as a learnable skill in development activities.  In many development activities, problem solving is synonymous with problem identification.  Having applied exercises in participatory settings to draw in the marginalised, development practitioners assist communities to identify the roots of their problems.  However, this assumes that having identified the problem closely enough, that someone will "spontaneously" have a solution.  The missing element is creativity as a leanrable skill that stimulates solutions to the cleaerly identified problem, and that enables people to "think outside the box".  Gamos is a fan of Edward De Bono, and has introduced his tools and methods to village communities in Africa and Asia to great effect.
